Protesters briefly disrupted a Fox News town hall in Iowa featuring GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis on Tuesday, chanting “no oil money."

The interruption occurred during DeSantis' response to a voter's question regarding Republicans distancing themselves from abortion bans following the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022.

DeSantis, who claims to be the only candidate to have successfully implemented restrictions on abortion, was momentarily interrupted as protesters stood up, brandishing a banner and briefly obstructing the camera. However, security quickly escorted them out, allowing the event to proceed.

In response to the disruption, DeSantis displayed a calm demeanor, stating, “You live and you learn with these people, right?” He further commented, “That was a mistake. You guys didn’t get that one right,” before resuming his response.

The incident took place during one of DeSantis' final opportunities to engage with voters in Iowa ahead of the state's caucuses on Monday. On Wednesday, he will engage in a one-on-one debate with Nikki Haley, who had previously participated in a town hall the day before. The debate will be hosted by CNN.

As the race for the GOP nomination intensifies, candidates are increasingly facing challenges from protesters who seek to disrupt their events and draw attention to their causes.
