An iPhone has reportedly survived a heart-stopping 16,000-foot drop during a dramatic in-flight incident on an Alaska Airlines flight.

The astonishing discovery was made when the phone was found on the side of a road, still in airplane mode, with an open email from Alaska Airlines for a baggage claim. The flight in question was identified as ASA1282.

Photos attached to a post on Twitter showed the device unlocked on the screen, displaying a receipt for two bags with a charge of $70. The battery, as seen in the photograph of the second phone found from the flight, appeared to be charged nearly halfway.

The social media user who made the discovery wrote, "Found an iPhone on the side of the road... Still in airplane mode with half a battery and open to a baggage claim for #AlaskaAirlines ASA1282. Survived a 16,000-foot drop perfectly intact!" The user also mentioned that when they reported the find, a representative from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) named Zoe confirmed that it was the second phone to be found, but no door had been located yet.

This incredible incident comes on the heels of a Friday incident involving an Alaska Airlines flight, which prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to temporarily ground over one hundred Boeing 737 Max-9 aircraft worldwide. During the flight, a large window section was ejected shortly after takeoff, as captured in videos posted on Twitter. The plane was seen in the air with the window wide open, while emergency masks dangled over passengers' seats.

In a surprising turn of events, the "plug door" of the aircraft was found in the backyard of a teacher with Portland Public Schools, according to KPTV. Initially, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) believed the panel flew off over Beaverton or West Portland.
