Vice President Kamala Harris, known for her often controversial and perplexing statements, has once again demonstrated a lack of understanding of the public sentiment.

Whether it's her inappropriate laughter when discussing serious issues or her apparent disconnect from reality, Harris continues to prove how out of touch she truly is.

This was evident in her recent speech in South Carolina, marking the third anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol protests. In her address, she criticized the Republican Party, a move that seemed strategically timed ahead of the state's Democrat primary on Feb. 3.

Harris, with the seriousness befitting such significant anniversaries, said, "Three years ago today, on Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob violently attacked the United States Capitol they used brutal force and fear to try to overturn the results of a free and fair election. They tried to overrule the votes of millions of Americans."

She continued, "On that day, we saw violence, chaos, and lawlessness, but some so-called leaders still tried to mislead and gaslight by saying it was a peaceful protest."

Harris's hyperbolic statements are not surprising, considering her track record. Her reference to "peaceful protests" seems to echo the Democrat Party's portrayal of the deadly post-George Floyd/BLM riots as "peaceful protests."

In a surprising turn, Harris accused Republicans of trying "to silence the voice of the people," while Democrat-run states continue their efforts to keep former President Donald Trump off state ballots. She stated, "We fight to protect the sacred freedom to vote while they try to silence the voice of the people."

Harris's speech also addressed concerns about President Biden's declining support among Black voters. She spoke to an audience of mostly Black women church leaders, reassuring them of the Biden administration's commitment to expanding postpartum care and replacing lead pipes in predominantly Black communities. She also warned of Republican efforts to roll back reproductive healthcare and voting rights.

In her characteristic style, Harris urged her audience, "Let us not throw up our hands. It is time to roll up our sleeves. We were born for a time such as this and we love our country. We believe in the principles upon which we were founded. And guided by our faith, we are prepared to fight for those principles. With hope, with optimism, and with faith. When we fight, we win."

Despite her claims of being "guided by faith," Harris supports unrestricted access to abortion. She continued her speech with more accusations against Republicans, stating, "On one side, they want to ban books. On the other side, we want to ban assault weapons. They think the government should tell a woman what to do with her body. We trust women, and women trust us to protect their fundamental freedoms."

Harris also highlighted her efforts as Vice President to address maternal mortality and Black maternal mortality, and to expand Medicaid coverage for postpartum care.

However, not everyone was impressed with Harris's speech. Horry County, S.C., Republican Chairman Reese Boyd responded, "It is unfortunate that the president and the vice president can find nothing else to run on, so they appear to be creating a campaign for reelection that is based on a platform of demonizing 'MAGA Republicans' as an existential threat to American Democracy. That is sad and absurd."

Boyd further criticized the current administration's handling of the economy, the southern border, international affairs, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. He suggested that the president's attempts to demonize former President Trump and his supporters were a desperate move, given their lack of achievements in office.

Boyd expressed confidence that most Americans see through the Democrats' strategy and will not be swayed by their attempts to demonize their political opponents.

A recent CBS News/YouGov poll found that 81 percent of Democrats believe Trump should be removed from state ballots before the presidential election, a move that seems to contradict the principles of democracy. As the 2024 election approaches, it remains to be seen whether the Democrats' strategy will resonate with voters or backfire.
