On Monday, JFK Airport was besieged by a multitude of anti-Israel protestors, causing significant disruption to traffic and inconveniencing travelers attempting to catch their flights.

Law enforcement officials managed to stave off the protestors from reaching the terminals by establishing checkpoints on the highway and at AirTrain stations. However, as travelers hustled to reach their gates, the protestors redirected their efforts towards Laguardia Airport, where they were similarly repelled.

The protest was orchestrated by the notorious activist group, Within Our Lifetime (WOL). The group had initially planned to stage their demonstration at JFK's Terminal 4, which houses the Israeli airline, El Al.

"We are inspired by the autonomous group that blocked the road to JFK earlier this week, targeting El Al and its Boeing fleet," WOL stated in an Instagram post announcing the direct action. "The fight against Zionism, siege, blockade, and occupation is the right to freedom of movement, which has been denied to Palestinians for far too long. This action symbolizes on a smaller scale the lack of freedom of movement in order to bring attention to the Palestinian struggle. As the genocide continues in the new year, we renew our commitment to fighting against it with everything we have from everywhere we are. Our skies are as boundless as the future we fight for."

Around midday, a procession of vehicles adorned with Palestinian flags and anti-Israel banners began its journey along the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn, heading towards JFK in Queens. Shortly after, pedestrians attempted to enter the airport via the Air Train.

However, the police were prepared and ensured that only JFK employees and those with boarding passes could proceed.

"If anyone is flying out of JFK Airport today," the NYPD's Chief of Transportation posted on X. "Please plan to travel to the airport ahead of time. There are planned protests today and will cause delays. We don't want anyone to miss their flights!"

He later issued an update notifying everyone that the convoy was en route to Laguardia, but their attempts were thwarted there as well.

In a desperate bid to disrupt JFK operations, the activists began releasing large balloons near the airport's runways.

Activists attempting to access JFK via public transportation were directed to Manhattan's Financial District, with the intention of targeting El Al's former office at 100 Wall Street.

"The Hamasnicks declared victory. Victory over what? Disrupting lives of New Yorkers who are now even more annoyed?" Councilwoman Inna Vernikov responded to the protests, ridiculing the group for failing to show up at a "non-existent" office.

As reported by the New York Post, El Al relocated its headquarters from New York City to Miami in 2022. However, this information was not relayed to the hundreds of protestors who congregated at 100 Wall Street.

"These pro-Hamas protestors aren't smart enough to even do a Google search," one X user commented.

As more protestors navigated through Lower Manhattan, there was a noticeable absence of police. Despite this, the demonstration remained largely peaceful.

Eventually, police arrived and escorted the protestors as they moved from Park Row onto the Brooklyn Bridge.
