The popular Facebook account, Libs of TikTok, has been suspended, according to a report by Libs of TikTok themselves on Saturday.

This comes as Facebook, along with its parent company Meta, faces criticism for its lack of commitment to free speech, unlike the new iteration of Twitter, X, under the leadership of Elon Musk.

A message from Facebook stated, "The Page Libs of TikTok has been disabled for going against our Community Standards. You cannot visit the Page and you won't be able to add new people to the Page." The message included a link to the Community Standards page, which outlines the guidelines for what is and isn't allowed on the platform.

Libs of TikTok is known for posting videos primarily of leftists on TikTok, exposing what they claim to be their true selves. However, these posts have been labeled as hateful by some, despite featuring activists and educators who proudly embrace their preferred gender identities and advocate for passing on the LGBTQ lifestyle to future generations.

Chaya Raichik, a contributor to Libs of TikTok, expressed disappointment in the suspension, stating, "The people's right to speak the truth will always win out over censors if people stay determined to tell it. It's a shame that Mark Zuckerberg cares more about peddling lies and catering to far-left ideologies than letting users speak. Every day I'm grateful to Elon for what he's done for free speech. No matter how many platforms censor and ban, we will always have X where we can tell the truth."

The account also posted a message warning of increased censorship from big tech in the lead-up to the elections, stating, "Buckle up for extreme censorship from big tech heading into the elections. They think we're stupid. Thanks again Elon Musk for giving us a free speech platform!"

Facebook's Community Standards serve as the guidelines for what is and isn't allowed on the platform. These standards are developed based on feedback from users and advice from experts in fields like technology, public safety, and human rights. The standards cover various aspects, including authenticity, safety, privacy, and dignity, and the list of prohibited content is extensive.

Prior to Elon Musk's involvement, both Facebook and Twitter were accused of being tools for government censorship. Whistleblowers and investigations, such as the Twitter Files and the Facebook Files, revealed collusion between misinformation government agents and executives at these social media giants. Musk's leadership at Twitter's new iteration, X, has been praised for its commitment to free speech.

While Facebook's suspension of Libs of TikTok raises concerns about the platform's approach to free speech, the availability of alternative platforms like X provides hope for those seeking to express their views without censorship.
