"Following the advice of the Office of the Attending Physician, today I received the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine. Sanders, known for consistently advocating for vaccination and public health measures, shared a statistic from the Washington State Department of Health, highlighting the importance of vaccination for the elderly population. According to the report, unvaccinated individuals aged 65 and above are four times more likely to contract COVID-19 compared to their fully vaccinated counterparts. Additionally, the unvaccinated are nine times more likely to be hospitalized and nine times more likely to die from the virus.

However, on Thursday, the 82-year-old Senator announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19. In a statement released to the media, Sanders assured the public that his symptoms were minimal and that he would continue working from home in Vermont while following CDC guidance and isolating.
