Senator John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania Democrat known for his online trolling, has revealed that he no longer has Twitter on his phone due to concerns about his mental health.

In an interview with POLITICO, Fetterman stated that he deleted the app within the past year and does not spend any time on it. He emphasized that this decision was made to prioritize his own well-being.

Fetterman said, "I don't spend any time on Twitter and that's the truth. I encourage you — you can check my personal phone. I couldn't even get on Twitter if I had to. It was not very helpful to promoting mental health."

Despite not using the app himself, Fetterman still plays a significant role in creating memes and crafting cheeky tweets. However, it is his staff who post these on his behalf.

Over the past year, Fetterman has unexpectedly become an advocate for mental health. In February, he sought treatment for clinical depression at Walter Reed Medical Center, leading him to take a six-week break from the Senate. Reflecting on his experience, Fetterman stated in April, "The whole thing about depression is that objectively, you may have won, but depression can absolutely convince you that you actually lost. And that's exactly what happened. And that was the start of a downward spiral."

Since recovering, Fetterman has emerged as an unconventional figure, challenging the norms of the Senate dress code and openly calling for the expulsion or resignation of indicted Senator Bob Menendez from New Jersey. Additionally, Fetterman has taken positions on Israel and immigration that have put him at odds with progressives.
