In a recent development, Alan Dershowitz, a former professor at Harvard Law School, has called for the resignation of Harvard President Claudine Gay.

This demand was made following Gay's refusal to condemn antisemitism on her campus during a congressional committee hearing. She also failed to take disciplinary action against demonstrators who advocated for the mass extermination of Jews.

Dershowitz also strongly criticized the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) movement, demanding that this "Orwellian groupthink" be completely dismantled and discredited.

Alongside Gay, University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) President Sally Kornbluth were also criticized for their actions before the House committee. Magill has since resigned due to her enforcement of a double standard of free speech, which negatively affected Jewish students. Dershowitz suggests that Gay should follow suit, with Kornbluth next in line.

Dershowitz, who began teaching at Harvard six decades ago, expressed his disappointment in the institution. He stated, "Am I ashamed of the institution? Yes. Am I surprised by this outrage? No, not in the least." He further criticized Magill, Gay, and Kornbluth, stating, "They are not leaders in education. They are politicians. Even when they talk the talk, they rarely walk the walk."

Dershowitz offered to testify before the U.S. Department of Education about Harvard's history of antisemitism. This comes after the department launched an investigation into Harvard for allegedly failing to adequately respond to antisemitic harassment on campus. Dershowitz believes that while necessary, no firings or federal probe will be sufficient to restore fairness at Harvard.

Rabbi David Wolpe, who recently resigned from the university's Antisemitism Advisory Group, supported Dershowitz's sentiments. He described the system at Harvard and the ideology of many students and faculty as 'evil.'

Dershowitz attributed this "evil ideology" to the DEI movement, which he believes has spread throughout the country like a psychological disorder. He criticized the rush of American institutions, including Harvard, to reckon with their histories following the murder of George Floyd. He argued that millions of dollars were spent hiring progressive bureaucrats steeped in identity politics, leading to an Orwellian outcome.

Dershowitz further criticized the DEI movement's concepts of 'diversity,' 'equity,' and 'inclusion.' He argued that there is little tolerance for speech critical of DEI, 'equity' favors select identity groups over individual merit, and 'inclusion' excludes Jews.

Dershowitz pointed out that Harvard failed to explicitly condemn Hamas or quickly denounce a student group letter that held Israel entirely responsible for the October 7th terrorist massacre. He concluded his argument by questioning, "Who will be next?"

Dershowitz's call for the resignation of Harvard's president and his critique of the DEI movement have sparked intense debate. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how these institutions will respond to these serious allegations and calls for change.
