Shroyer, who reported to FCI Oakdale prison on October 24, was sentenced for his presence on Capitol grounds during the events of January 6, 2021. Although he did not enter the building, prosecutors argued that he violated a previous deferred prosecution agreement by engaging in disorderly conduct.
During his time in prison, Shroyer spent a significant portion in solitary confinement. His sentence was initially interrupted by a five-day stint due to the prison's COVID intake policies. Subsequently, he was placed in solitary confinement for much of November after making a phone call to a friend, which was intended to be posted on his X account.
