Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has publicly criticized Disney CEO Bob Iger for not withdrawing his company's advertising from Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook.

This comes in the wake of allegations that the social media giant has facilitated child sexual abuse.

The dispute between Musk and Iger has been simmering since Disney decided to remove its advertisements from Musk's social media platform, a move Musk has labeled as "blackmail."

Musk's latest salvo was triggered by a report about a lawsuit filed by New Mexico against Meta. The suit alleges that content on Facebook and Instagram has enabled child sexual abuse and trafficking. Musk took to his platform to question Iger's lack of action.

"Why no advertiser boycott, Bob Iger? You are endorsing this material!" Musk posted.

Musk's comments sparked a flurry of responses on his platform, with some users suggesting that Disney's failure to act might be due to its own history of employees being charged with sex crimes against children.

One user commented, "It was never about advertising standards. It’s about bankrupting [Musk's platform] on behalf of the ruling class." Another added, "That would mean he and Disney are against that sort of thing."

Musk's confrontation with advertisers escalated last week at the New York Times Dealbook Summit.

There, he delivered a blunt message to those he accused of trying to blackmail his platform, including Iger, whom he indirectly told to "Go f*ck yourself."

The withdrawal of advertising by corporations followed a critical article by Media Matters. The left-leaning publication accused Musk of antisemitism for not suppressing divisive opinions and for his commitment to free speech on his platform.

In response, several media outlets, including Timcast, The Babylon Bee, and Benny Media, have pledged significant ad buys to support the platform's principles.

Musk's comments at the summit drew both praise and criticism, with the mainstream media largely critical. However, his supporters have rallied around him, calling for a boycott of Disney and encouraging users of Musk's platform to upgrade to premium accounts in a show of solidarity.
