In a shocking revelation, it has been alleged that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been monitoring Catholics, a claim that seems to echo President Biden's 2022 Philadelphia address.

In his speech, delivered in front of Independence Hall, Biden labeled "MAGA Republicans" as a "threat to democracy." This information was shared by Rep. Jim Jordan in an interview with FOX News.

Rep. Jordan, a Republican from Ohio and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, expanded on a report his committee released on Monday. The report detailed the FBI's supposed plan to monitor Catholics from its Richmond, Virginia, office for any suspected domestic terrorism activities.

Earlier on Monday, the House Government Weaponization Committee informed FOX News that the FBI had interviewed a priest and a choir director, despite there being "no legitimate basis" for the memorandum that would authorize federal involvement in churches.

Rep. Jordan, who chairs both committees, had previously investigated the possibility of the FBI categorizing some Catholics as potential domestic terrorists.

During his appearance on "Hannity," Jordan revealed that FBI officials initially claimed the issue was confined to Richmond. However, he has since discovered that the "attack on pro-life Catholics" was more widespread.

FBI Director Christopher Wray testified that his office ordered the immediate rescission and withdrawal of the memo once headquarters became aware of it.

However, Jordan argued on Monday that the issue and its reported expanding scope are believable and typical. He cited the FBI's raid on the home of pro-life activist Mark Houck in Kintnersville, Pennsylvania, and his subsequent arrest in front of his family.

This was in relation to a case involving behavior outside a Philadelphia abortion clinic that Pennsylvania authorities had previously declined to prosecute.

"When that [federal] case goes to court, Mark Houck wins," Jordan stated. "Which is – that's how ridiculous this all is. So that's what our report spells out."

Jordan pointed out that Houck had offered to turn himself in, but was instead confronted by the full force of the bureau. "That is not how you're supposed to operate in this great country," he said.

Jordan also referenced Biden's speech at the birthplace of American government, where Biden, against a dark red backdrop, claimed that Trump-supporting Republicans "represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic."

"Remember when Joe Biden stood in front of Independence Hall and talked about how one half of the country is fascist?" Jordan asked. "It's this whole mindset. If you're pro-life, if you're a traditional Catholic, somehow you're radical, somehow you're an extremist."

Jordan added that the FBI's actions continue to make a case against funding the eventual conclusion to a currently tense battle to relocate the bureau to a new headquarters outside the District of Columbia.

The inspector general for the General Services Administration, which handles government properties, is investigating the Biden administration's site selection for a proposed new headquarters in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Virginia officials have expressed bipartisan outrage over the process. GOP Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Democratic Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine have argued that Springfield, Virginia, is more in line with the stated criteria for an FBI relocation site.
