According to The Tennessean, the Hayes Family, along with Alicia Owens and her daughter, were enjoying a meal at The Grind restaurant when the buck forcefully launched itself through the window. In a video shared by AccuWeather, the deer can be seen running towards the glass window overlooking the roadway before propelling itself forward. Unfortunately, Ruby Hayes, 13, was struck by the deer's back hoof, resulting in a wound that required 11 stitches. She received treatment at the West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital and has since been released.
Alicia Owens, who witnessed the incident, expressed her disbelief to The Tennessean, saying, "It's sliding on the glass. It can't get its footing. It's frantically trying to get up. I couldn't comprehend it was actually a deer. We're in the middle of town, across the street from the University of Tennessee Martin. It's like, what in the world?"
