Prominent hotels in Colombia, Uruguay, and Argentina have declined to host Roger Waters, the former bassist of Pink Floyd, due to his anti-Semitic views.

The decision to deny accommodation to the left-leaning musician and his entourage is primarily attributed to his position on the conflict between Hamas and Israel. Waters has absolved the terrorist organization of its role in the October 7 attacks, which resulted in over 1,400 fatalities on Israeli soil. More than 200 Jews are currently unaccounted for and believed to be held captive by Hamas in Gaza.

Waters is slated to perform in Uruguay's capital this Friday, the 17th. However, his impending arrival has elicited strong reactions due to his extreme left-wing political beliefs. Recently, Waters urged the Israeli government to halt what he termed as the "genocide" against Palestinians, thereby openly aligning himself with Hamas.

If he fails to secure accommodation in Uruguay, Waters may have to proceed directly to Argentina following his Montevideo concert. However, his presence has also been rebuffed by hotels in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Waters has attributed his hotel boycott in Uruguay and Argentina to the "Israeli lobby."

In a conversation with a Uruguayan newspaper, the left-wing musician expressed his frustration, stating, "I am furious. The city of Montevideo is closed to me, and I have nowhere to stay. I was supposed to have dinner this Thursday with former President José Mujica. He is my friend, and I can’t go. I can’t have dinner with Mujica because the Israeli lobby, or whatever they call themselves, canceled me."

Currently without lodging, Waters remains in São Paulo, Brazil, where he performed last week. He will travel to Montevideo and Buenos Aires on the day of his concert, returning to São Paulo shortly afterward. In Colombia, the American Four Seasons hotel chain also declined to accommodate Waters and his team.

Waters is touring South America as part of his farewell tour, "This is Not a Drill," which coincides with the Israel-Hamas conflict in the Gaza Strip. The musician has been criticized for his anti-Semitic remarks, including accusations of Israel conducting "ethnic cleansing" against Palestinians for the past 75 years.

During his stay in Brazil, Waters met with the country's communist President, Lula da Silva. In 2018, during a previous tour in Brazil, the far-left musician attempted to visit Lula while he was imprisoned for corruption but was barred from doing so.
