In a recent development, former CNN producer John Griffin has reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed on behalf of a minor who was sexually abused at his vacation home in Ludlow, Vermont in 2020.

The lawsuit was filed in 2022 by the Connecticut Superior Court, seeking $15 million in damages for the victim, who is now 11 years old.

Griffin, who had a nearly decade-long tenure with CNN, was sentenced to over 19 years in prison after pleading guilty to enticing minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity. The abuse took place over a four-month period, during which the victim's mother had accepted $3,500 from Griffin to bring her daughter to his home for what court records describe as "sexual training."

According to Fox News, while at Griffin's residence, the mother and daughter were subjected to "pornographic videos about sex with mothers and daughters." The report further states that the child was forced "to perform lewd sex acts on her adoptive mother as Griffin watched." A court filing also reveals that "A drone that Griffin operated captured him in his underwear and the completely nude child standing next to him."

While the specifics of the settlement remain undisclosed, Griffin's attorney, Robert Berke, stated to the media that "after months of discussions, we were able to resolve this state court civil case, and [Griffin] is glad to put this behind him."

In 2020, Griffin was charged by the US Attorney's Office for the District of Vermont with three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce to attempt to entice minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity. However, following a plea agreement in December, two additional charges of enticing a minor were dropped after Griffin confessed to his crimes.

The indictment alleged that between April and July 2020, Griffin used online messaging platforms such as Kik and Google Hangouts to communicate with parents of underage girls. In July, he enticed a mother and her minor daughter to his home, where he subjected them to explicit videos and forced the child to perform sexual acts with her adoptive mother while he watched.

Griffin, a 45-year-old father of three, reportedly told one of the mothers who brought their daughters to him that a "woman is a woman regardless of her age."

Following his conviction, Griffin's wife has filed for divorce. As part of his sentencing, he "cannot have contact with people under the age of 18, except in the presence of an adult who has been approved by a probation officer, and is prohibited from being in areas where children congregate, such as schools, playgrounds and theme parks, unless approved by the probation office beforehand."
