Acclaimed actress Jamie Lee Curtis has thrown her support behind Representative Adam Schiff's bid for the California Senate, asserting that he will "always stand up to the people abusing their power."

In a campaign message for Schiff, Curtis, a lifelong Californian, expressed her admiration for the state's senators, noting a shared quality with Schiff. "They know they work for us, not the other way around," she stated.

Schiff is vying for the Senate seat previously occupied by the late Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat who announced her retirement in February and passed away in September at the age of 90.

The race has garnered significant attention, with Schiff and Representative Katie Porter leading in recent polls among likely primary voters. Other contenders include Representative Barbara Lee, former Google executive Lexi Reese, and former Los Angeles TV news anchor Christina Pascucci.

Steve Garvey, a former star of the Los Angeles Dodgers, also entered the race as a Republican candidate earlier this month.

In her endorsement of Schiff, Curtis highlighted the current political climate, stating, "As MAGA Republicans attack transgender children, LGBTQ equality, abortion rights, and ban books, I’m grateful we have a leader like Adam who will always stand up to the people abusing their power."

Curtis praised Schiff's courage in standing up to powerful entities, including former President Trump, big corporations, and special interests. Schiff's role as a House impeachment manager during Trump's first impeachment trial is a testament to this.

Curtis, 64, emphasized the importance of the upcoming Senate race, stating, "many of the most important fights we face as a country will be waged in the United States Senate." She concluded her endorsement by asserting the need for a Senator who can effectively represent California and get things done.
