Republican presidential candidates have differing views on the level of support the U.S. should provide to Israel in its conflict with Hamas.

Some candidates, such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and biotech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy, lean towards isolationism, while former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley pledges to give Israel "anything they need."

Haley, along with South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, former Vice President Mike Pence, and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, express more hawkish views, including openness to US troop involvement. Former President Donald Trump's stance on the issue remains ambiguous.

Ramaswamy is the most vocal candidate against providing additional aid to Israel. He argues for no financial assistance, suggesting that the U.S. should only offer diplomatic support to protect Israel's national sovereignty.

DeSantis believes that the best way for America to support Israel is to emphasize its right to defend itself. However, he also states that the conflict is ultimately Israel's war and that U.S. ground troops have not been involved in Israel's conflicts in the past.

In a recent interview with Newsmax, DeSantis refused to commit to providing additional military aid to Israel beyond the ongoing support for the Iron Dome defense system. He believes that America should publicly show support for Israel but not take a lead in military support.

Despite their disagreements, DeSantis announced plans to provide military equipment, including drones, weapons, and ammunition, to Israel. This move follows his previous efforts to support the war by organizing flights to bring Americans back home.

In contrast, Haley, with whom DeSantis has clashed over admitting Gaza refugees, supports providing aid to Israel without question. She believes the U.S. should offer equipment, ammunition, and intelligence to Israel and should not discuss restraint or a ceasefire.

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum shares similar views to Haley, advocating for maximum political and military support for Israel in its fight against Hamas.

Pence and Scott criticize the "America First" policies of Ramaswamy, DeSantis, and Trump, arguing that these ideologies contributed to Hamas attacking Israel. They believe that America should maintain its role as the leader of the free world.

Pence, Scott, and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson are the only candidates explicitly stating that they would have had American troops or special forces on the ground in Gaza. Pence would have ordered Delta Force and Navy SEALs to work with the Israeli Defense Forces to engage in hostage rescue. Hutchinson would have asked Congress for authorization to use military force against Hamas, while Scott emphasizes the need to rescue American hostages.

Christie, in an interview with Fox News, states that sending US troops would not be his first instinct but would consider it if the existence of Israel was at stake.

Trump, the frontrunner in the GOP race, claims that the Hamas attack would not have occurred under his watch. He pledges to stand with Israel and not let them fail if he were in the White House. However, he has not directly commented on whether he would support more military aid or U.S. troop presence.
