Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) has been at the forefront of efforts to evacuate Americans from Israel, a mission that has also been supported by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

As reported by our affiliate site, Townhall, Mills had already initiated the evacuation process before the Biden State Department announced its intention to facilitate flights out of Israel.

Mills' office and team have successfully evacuated 96 Americans from Israel, with Mills personally accompanying 77 of these individuals. Additionally, a charter aircraft capable of carrying 218 passengers has been secured. This service is provided free of charge to Americans needing to leave Israel, a stark contrast to the Biden administration's approach.

Mills' efforts in Israel follow his previous involvement in the evacuation of U.S. citizens from Afghanistan during the Biden administration's controversial withdrawal. He stated, "If I had to come over here and do Biden’s job, so be it."

Mills also highlighted a significant difference between his evacuation flights and those offered by the Biden administration. He stated, "In contrast to Joe Biden's charter flights, this service is provided to passengers free of charge."

Federal law, however, mandates reimbursement for such services. A State Department spokesperson told Just the News, "U.S. law requires that departure assistance to private U.S. citizens and third country nationals generally be provided via a loan from the U.S. government. It requires that U.S. government coordinated evacuation of private U.S. citizens or third country nationals be provided 'on a reimbursable basis to the maximum extent practicable.'"

The spokesperson added that U.S. citizens and third country national passengers on U.S. government-coordinated evacuations are generally required to sign a promissory note, attesting to their agreement to repay the U.S. government.

Critics argue that the current administration selectively adheres to the law, citing its lax approach to border protection as an example. They accuse the administration of prioritizing political agenda items over the defense of Americans, and of wasteful spending on foreign aid and support for illegal immigrants.

The contrast between the administration's strict adherence to the law regarding evacuation reimbursement and its perceived indifference in other areas is seen as indicative of a lack of prioritization of American citizens. Critics argue that there are always alternatives, as demonstrated by Mills, if the administration is willing to seek them out.
