In a forthcoming episode of Rob Lowe's podcast, Hollywood icon and former Republican governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, offered a stark critique of the Democratic Party's approach to city governance.

During the conversation, Lowe referenced a past discussion with former California Republican Congressman David Dreier. Dreier had outlined the Republican Party's core principles as a strong military, low taxes, less government, and more personal freedoms. However, Lowe noted that he was missing one key principle. Schwarzenegger promptly filled in the gap, adding "Strong law enforcement" to the list.

The conversation then shifted to the Democratic Party's principles. When asked by Lowe about his perception of what Democrats stand for, Schwarzenegger responded bluntly, "Ruin your cities." He further elaborated, "That's what the Democrats would say. We are about ruining the cities. We want to mess up every city in America. That seems to be the theme right now."

When Lowe expressed surprise at this assertion, Schwarzenegger admitted, "I have no idea" why this would be the case. He pointed out that many of America's largest cities, currently under Democratic leadership, are grappling with significant challenges. These include rising crime rates, increasing debt, and a mass exodus of residents and businesses seeking more favorable conditions elsewhere.

Schwarzenegger's political views have often been a subject of controversy within his own party. Despite identifying as a Republican, he has espoused several positions typically associated with the political left.

These include support for abortion rights, advocacy for climate change action, and strong endorsement of mask-wearing and vaccination against COVID-19. In 2021, he even drew parallels between former President Trump's administration and Adolf Hitler's Nazi Party in an interview with a magazine.

Furthermore, despite championing "freedom" as a core Republican value, Schwarzenegger faced backlash in 2021 for his comments against those opposing government-imposed COVID-19 restrictions. He controversially told conservatives, "screw your freedom" in response to protests against mask mandates, vaccine requirements, and business and school closures during the pandemic.

Despite these controversies, Schwarzenegger maintained in a recent interview with the that he still identifies as a Republican.
