Black Lives Matter Chicago has removed a controversial pro-Hamas post from its official social media platforms.

The post had gained significant attention, amassing tens of millions of views on X since it was shared on Tuesday. It had also been featured as the group's cover image on Facebook.

While the group acknowledged that the post had crossed a line, its leaders maintained their support for the Palestinians and placed blame on Israel. In a post on X, BLM Chicago stated, "Yesterday we sent out msgs that we aren’t proud of. We stand with Palestine & the people who will do what they must to live free. Our hearts are with the grieving mothers, those rescuing babies from rubble, who are in danger of being wiped out completely."

Notably, there was no mention of the hundreds of Israelis who had been indiscriminately killed by Hamas.

The controversial post depicted an image of a paraglider with a Palestinian flag attached to his parachute, accompanied by the caption, "That is all that it is!"

However, users quickly utilized X's Community Notes feature to provide important context. One note highlighted that the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas had used armed gunmen on paragliders to enter a rave in Israel, resulting in the deaths of over 260 innocent people. It also pointed out that prior to this incident, Palestinians were not known for paragliding.

While the post was still active, it faced widespread criticism from users for its apparent reference to the recent music festival massacre. James Lindsay urged individuals and organizations who had supported BLM to "repent" and admit their mistake. Tim Pool added that massive corporations had funded and stood behind BLM, ignoring signs of corruption and depravity.
