Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib, known for her criticism of Israel, has chosen to remain silent in the wake of Saturday's unprecedented terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel, which has resulted in the deaths of at least 600 Israelis and led to Israel officially declaring war for the first time since 1973.

Despite her typically vocal nature, Tlaib's office has not released a statement, and she has refrained from posting on social media for nearly 24 hours since the attack began. Tlaib has consistently accused Israel of engaging in "ethnic cleansing" against Palestinians and has labeled it an "apartheid state."

In a social media post in May, Tlaib wrote, "Speaker McCarthy wants to rewrite history, but the apartheid state of Israel was born out of violence and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. 75 years later, the Nakba continues to this day." However, Tlaib's office did not respond immediately to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Fellow Democratic Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who have also been critical of Israel in the past, called for a "ceasefire" between Israel and Hamas on Saturday.

According to the Times of Israel, Israel's security cabinet officially declared war on Saturday night in response to the surprise barrage of thousands of rockets launched by Hamas terrorists into southern Israel. This marks Israel's first declaration of war since the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

In retaliation, Israeli forces have launched strikes against Hamas targets in Gaza, hitting 426 locations and demolishing residential buildings. Additionally, the Israeli military engaged in a firefight with Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group in the north, raising concerns of a wider conflict.
