Newsom went on to suggest that DeSantis regrets his decision to run for the White House, accusing him of making a significant mistake by listening to his consultants and succumbing to his own inflated ego. Newsom even accused DeSantis of having a "God complex."

During a recent Republican presidential primary debate, DeSantis criticized former President Donald Trump for his absence, stating that Trump should have been on the stage that night. However, Trump continues to maintain a significant lead over other GOP presidential hopefuls in the polls.

The idea of a debate between DeSantis and Newsom was initially proposed by Hannity during an interview with Newsom earlier this year. Newsom expressed his willingness to debate DeSantis, stating that he was fully committed to the idea. DeSantis later confirmed his willingness to participate in the debate, stating, "Absolutely. I'm game."
In addition to the upcoming debate with Newsom, DeSantis has also suggested the possibility of a one-on-one debate against Trump.
