Less than 24 hours after a special counsel was appointed to investigate allegations of tax and gun crimes involving Hunter Biden, the first son found himself praying for justice at his nephew's bar mitzvah.

The trip to Marietta, Georgia on August 12th brought Biden and his wife Melissa to a suburban synagogue for the coming-of-age ceremony of Jayden Cohen, the son of Melissa's brother. During the Shabbat morning service at Congregation Etz Chaim, Biden led a public prayer, beseeching God for blessings upon the country's leaders and judges, including his father, President Biden, and the Delaware federal judge who rejected his plea deal last month. He also asked for the knowledge to judge justly.

Biden's prayer was captured on the synagogue's livestream and posted on social media. He dressed casually for the occasion, without a necktie, and wore a baseball-patterned yarmulke pinned to his head, along with a traditional tallit prayer shawl. However, he appeared unpracticed in his role, forgetting to bring a prayer book to the podium and needing to borrow one from Rabbi Daniel Dorsch. After completing his prayer, Biden seemed confused and wandered around the sanctuary.

Although he was not introduced by name, members of the synagogue were aware of the Cohen family's ties to the White House. A photo of Jayden with the executive mansion as a backdrop was proudly displayed on the synagogue's Facebook page. While some congregants were excited about Biden's presence, others expressed reservations, noting that he is not a role model. However, within the Jewish community, it is still considered politically incorrect to speak negatively about the Bidens.

The House Oversight Committee recently released bank records showing that Hunter Biden and his associates received at least $20 million from questionable foreign sources while Joe Biden was vice president. Critics argue that this is evidence of an international influence-peddling operation.

On July 26th, Hunter Biden's plea bargain with the Justice Department fell apart in a Delaware federal court under scrutiny from US District Judge Maryellen Noreika. Although the Delaware tax charges were dismissed, it paved the way for David Weiss, the Delaware state attorney appointed as special counsel, to prosecute the case in another jurisdiction.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was the first to report on Biden's attendance at the family celebration. According to an ABC News/Ipsos survey released on Thursday, fewer than one-third of Americans believe that the Department of Justice's investigation into Hunter Biden is being conducted in a fair and non-partisan manner.
