Democratic Representative Dean Phillips of Minnesota has openly invited anyone interested in challenging President Biden for the 2024 Democratic primary nomination to "take the chance."

In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," Phillips expressed his admiration for Biden but suggested that it was time for him to "pass the torch" to new leadership.

"I would like to see a moderate governor, hopefully from the heartland, from one of the four states that Democrats will need," Phillips stated. He further encouraged potential candidates like Joe Manchin and Cornel West to consider running, emphasizing that primaries do not undermine the chances of a Democrat returning to the White House.

Meanwhile, Lisa Boothe of Fox News argued that Democrats would prefer to replace Biden but are wary of being left with Vice President Kamala Harris. "I saw a recent poll where even 50% of Democrats wanted a different nominee in the 2024 election. I think I've seen the number as high as 75%," Boothe said on "The Big Weekend Show." She added that the Democratic Party is hesitant to encourage a third-party run, fearing it could jeopardize their chances in the 2024 election.

Joe Concha, co-host of "The Big Weekend Show," labeled any attempt by a member of Biden's party to challenge him for the nomination a "fool's errand," given the Democratic National Committee's announcement that the president would not participate in debates.

Concha cited a New York Times focus group conducted by Kristen Soltis Anderson, in which all 12 Biden voters from 2020 expressed disappointment in his leadership and did not believe he should run in 2024. However, all 12 said they would vote for Biden again. "People vote against candidates these days, not for them. And that's what I think the Democrats are banking," Concha concluded.

The Times also interviewed two independent voters who shared their perspectives. Donnia, a 62-year-old from Illinois, revealed that her vote in 2020 was not for Biden but against Trump. Similarly, Claudia, a 28-year-old from Florida, admitted that she voted for Biden because he was the "lesser of two evils."
