This marks the second incident in as many days where Texas troopers have apprehended migrants illegally in the United States with child pornography in their possession.
Lieutenant Chris Olivarez, spokesperson for the DPS, took to Twitter to share photos of a migrant who was arrested by troopers during a traffic stop on August 2. Upon further investigation, troopers uncovered five child pornography images featuring underage girls on the migrant's cell phone.
The troopers, who are part of Governor Greg Abbott's Operation Lone Star initiative, had pulled over a silver Toyota sedan and uncovered the driver's involvement in smuggling a Honduran migrant into the United States illegally. The driver, as well as the migrant identified as Dagoberto Corea Mendez, were subsequently arrested.
