Centrist organization No Labels is actively seeking support from Republican donors who oppose former President Donald Trump as it prepares for a third-party bid in the 2024 election, according to a report by Politico.

No Labels plans to run a "unity ticket" as an "insurance policy" against what it sees as the extreme ends of both the Trump-led Republican Party and the Democratic Party under President Joe Biden. This new strategy of appealing to anti-Trump GOP donors could have significant implications in the Republican primary, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

The organization aims to attract contributions from these donors as a means of keeping Trump out of the race without having to donate to Biden, according to a source representing a corporate CEO approached by No Labels. However, No Labels spokesperson Maryanne Martini dismissed claims of hidden agendas, stating that the organization's goal is to give voice to the commonsense majority of Americans by securing ballot access in states nationwide.

No Labels has indicated that it will only run a third-party ticket if Trump becomes the GOP nominee. Democrats, however, have expressed concerns about such a bid, fearing that it could siphon votes away from Biden and potentially hand the White House back to Trump. A source from a company associated with a No Labels contributor expressed concerns about the unintended consequences of such a move.

The organization has yet to decide on a candidate to lead its third-party ticket, but several names have been floated, including West Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin, former Utah Republican Governor Jon Huntsman, and former Maryland Republican Governor Larry Hogan. However, some supporters of No Labels are skeptical about the electoral success of such a candidate in 2024, questioning the organization's ability to secure Electoral College votes.
