Elon Musk has called for the retirement of GOP Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

Musk's tweet was in response to the news that Graham has joined forces with Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts to introduce a bill proposing the establishment of a regulatory commission to oversee Big Tech companies.

In an opinion piece published in The New York Times, the bipartisan duo outlined their proposed legislation, known as the Digital Consumer Protection Commission Act. The act aims to create an independent and bipartisan regulator responsible for licensing and monitoring major tech companies such as Meta, Google, and Amazon.

The commission's primary objectives would be to prevent online harm, protect free speech and competition, safeguard Americans' privacy, and ensure national security. The proposed watchdog would focus on addressing the unique threats posed by tech giants while strengthening the regulatory tools available to federal agencies and state attorneys general.

The news prompted a response from Richard Hanania, who tweeted his concerns about the proposed agency, comparing it to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's role in shutting down nuclear power. Elon Musk, in reply to Hanania's post, tweeted, "Time for Lindsey Graham to retire."

Graham, who has served in the Senate for over two decades, expressed his support for the regulatory commission, emphasizing that it would provide consumers with a voice against Big Tech and the power to hold them accountable. He stated, "The creation of a regulatory commission to oversee Big Tech is the first step in a long journey to protect American consumers from the massive power these companies currently wield."

It is worth noting that Graham faced criticism at a recent Trump rally in South Carolina, where he was booed by attendees.
