Former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani has admitted to making false statements about two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, whom he accused of rigging the 2020 election and counting extra votes.

In a recent court filing, Giuliani seeks to resolve the litigation against him while maintaining that his statements are protected by the First Amendment.

Giuliani's admission does not contest that his statements were false and actionable. The court document acknowledges that he published these false statements to third parties. However, Giuliani argues that this admission should not impact his argument that his statements are constitutionally protected.

Giuliani's political adviser, Ted Goodman, clarified that Giuliani's acknowledgment of the falsehoods was a strategic move to proceed with the motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Goodman emphasized that this is a legal issue, not a factual one, and that those attempting to tarnish Giuliani's reputation are disregarding the purpose of the stipulation.

On the other hand, Michael J. Gottlieb, the attorney representing Freeman and Moss, sees Giuliani's admission as a validation of his clients' lawful actions during the 2020 election. Gottlieb asserts that Freeman and Moss fulfilled their civic duties in compliance with the law and that the allegations of election fraud made against them by Giuliani and former President Trump have been false from the beginning.
