Former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson has engaged in a heated exchange with Republican politician Chris Christie following The Summit, a recent event where Carlson challenged several prominent GOP figures.

Christie criticized Carlson's stance on the Ukraine war, claiming that the conservative commentator has consistently been wrong on the issue.

During an appearance on "This Week" with host George Stephanopoulos, Christie was asked how he would have responded to Carlson's questions about the Ukraine war, which were posed to various GOP presidential candidates at The Summit. Christie replied, "I would have said, 'You've always been wrong about this, Tucker, and you're still wrong.'"

Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, went on to argue that the conflict in Ukraine is, in fact, a proxy war with China. He claimed that China is funding the Russian war effort by purchasing Russian oil and coordinating with Iran to provide lethal weapons to the Russian army. Christie emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, warning that if the United States backs away, China may take further aggressive actions, potentially targeting Taiwan.

In response to Christie's comments, Carlson took to Twitter to challenge the former governor. He shared a screenshot of a Mediaite article with the headline "'You've Always Been Wrong About This, Tucker' Chris Christie Pummels Carlson Over His Opposition to Ukraine." Carlson fired back, "Sounds like this could use a longer conversation. We just asked @GovChristie to sit down and explain his views on Ukraine. He refused." Carlson expressed disappointment in Christie's refusal to engage in a substantive discussion on the matter.

As of now, Christie has not responded to Carlson's tweet or accepted his invitation for a conversation. Christie is currently a Republican presidential candidate for the 2024 election, but according to Real Clear Politics polling data, he only has a 2.6% support among voters.

During his interview with Stephanopoulos, Christie acknowledged that winning the GOP nomination would require going through Donald Trump. He argued that there is no separate lane or alternative path to securing the nomination, as Trump remains the frontrunner. Christie believes that to defeat Trump, Republican primary voters must be convinced that Trump is unelectable and that his record does not merit another nomination.
