Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. commended former President Trump, stating that he is "probably the most successful debater in this country since Lincoln-Douglas."

Kennedy drew a parallel between Trump's debating skills and the historic debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas in 1858, which are widely regarded as instrumental in Lincoln's path to the presidency and the first-ever presidential debates.

In an interview with Fox News, Kennedy, who is known for his anti-vaccine conspiracy theories and is considered a long-shot candidate for the Democratic nomination, emphasized the importance of President Biden participating in debates during the primaries. He argued that it is crucial for the Democratic party because ultimately, the President will have to debate a Republican candidate, most likely Trump if he secures the GOP nomination.

Kennedy expressed admiration for Trump's debating technique, which he believes resonates with people. He compared it to attending a prize fight, emphasizing the need for practice. Kennedy urged Biden not to shy away from debating during the primary season, likening it to asking a prize fighter to prepare for a big bout by simply sitting on the couch and indulging in fast food.

However, Biden's team has dismissed requests from Kennedy and other opponents to debate the President. On the other hand, Trump has indicated that he is not interested in debating his primary opponents, citing his significant lead in the polls as a reason not to engage in debates. This stance has garnered mixed reactions from GOP officials.

Kennedy's chances in the Democratic primary appear slim, as recent national polls show Biden with a commanding 53-point lead over Kennedy, making him Biden's strongest primary opponent.
