Democratic State Representative Catherine Sofikitis of New Hampshire has come under fire for derogatory comments she made about the members of Moms for Liberty, a rising parental rights group.

In a tweet, Sofikitis referred to the group as "a--holes with casseroles" and compared them to terrorists, stating, "taliban in minivan." The tweet has since received widespread condemnation, with numerous quote tweets expressing outrage.

The New Hampshire Republican Party was quick to denounce Sofikitis' comments, describing them as "disgusting." Chris Ager, Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, expressed his disappointment, stating, "The saddest part is that they seem to reflect the Democrat Party's disdain for parents who dare to get involved with their children's education."

Tina Descovich, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, responded to Sofikitis' remarks by calling on elected officials to stop "demonizing parents." Descovich emphasized that Moms for Liberty members are "joyful warriors" who are standing up to improve the failing education system across America. She expressed hope that elected officials would choose to work with parents to ensure a brighter future for all children, rather than demonizing them.

Moms for Liberty has faced backlash from left-leaning individuals due to their opposition to mask mandates, critical race theory teachings, and their advocacy for the removal of explicit books from schools. Critics have labeled the organization a "hate group" for their stance on parental rights in schools.

Despite the criticism, Moms for Liberty recently held a successful national summit, featuring several potential Republican presidential contenders for 2024 as speakers. Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, one of the speakers at the summit, acknowledged the attacks the group has faced from the left and the media. He commended Moms for Liberty for their resilience, stating, "I want to congratulate you for that because that is a sign we are winning this fight."
