Celebrity chef Guy Fieri found himself at the center of controversy after a photograph surfaced of him shaking hands with former President Donald Trump.

The encounter took place at the UFC 290 event held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Trump was also seen engaging in conversation with actor Mark Wahlberg and director Mel Gibson.

Despite Fieri's well-known philanthropic efforts, he faced backlash from the left for his friendly interaction with the former President. Liberal activist Laura Chapin took to Twitter to express her disappointment, stating, "Congratulations to @GuyFieri for completely trashing his brand by gripping & grinning with Trump last night. Your audience/fan base isn't Trumpers, bruh."

Musician Jack White, former lead singer of the White Stripes, also voiced his objection on Instagram, condemning anyone who treated Trump with respect. White wrote, "Anybody who 'normalizes' or treats this disgusting fascist, racist, con man, disgusting piece of s*** Trump with any level of respect is ALSO disgusting in my book. That's you Joe Rogan, you Mel Gibson, you Mark Wahlberg, you Guy Fieri. This is a statement from me, not a discussion/debate."

The online criticism continued to pour in, with liberal TikTok influencer Harry Sisson tweeting, "Guy Fieri was seen with Donald Trump last night and my only question is: what's wrong with these celebrities? Why are they trying to normalize Trump's behavior? He's the twice indicted, twice impeached, disgraced former President who's a sexual abuser. He's not a good guy."

Others joined in the condemnation, with one detractor stating, "Trump ruins everything. You can't shake hands with racist rapist Nazis--the stain won't wash off." Calls for a boycott against Fieri and his "Flavortown" restaurants also gained traction on social media, with one tweet amassing over 16k "likes" and 7.2k retweets.

The controversy surrounding Fieri's encounter with Trump highlights the ongoing polarization in American society and the scrutiny faced by public figures who engage with individuals from opposing political camps.
