Comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan has come under fire for making derogatory comments about transgender content creator Dylvan Mulvaney while discussing Bud Light's recent marketing controversy.

Rogan, along with rapper/actor Ice Cube, discussed the reasons behind Bud Light's disastrous campaign on episode 2004 of "The Joe Rogan Experience."

During the podcast, Rogan referred to Mulvaney as "mentally ill" and an "attention whore" in relation to the backlash Bud Light faced after sending Mulvaney a special edition can. The incident sparked a massive boycott against the beer giant.

Ice Cube joined the conversation, questioning who was responsible for Bud Light's decision and suggesting that it may have been an attempt to ruin the brand.

Rogan chimed in, stating that he believed the decision was influenced by the growing trend of companies feeling obligated to engage in "woke" culture.

Rogan further explained that corporations now have to adhere to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, which determine their score and potential access to capital.

He criticized the decision-maker at Bud Light, suggesting that her university and corporate background, combined with the pressure to be inclusive, led to the controversial choice.

The term "ESG" refers to guidelines used by large investment groups to assess a company's environmental, social, and governance practices. Higher scores indicate a greater likelihood of receiving investment capital.
