Another group of undocumented immigrants arrived in the Sanctuary City of Los Angeles on Saturday morning.

The bus transported 41 individuals, including 11 children, from eight different countries, such as Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

According to ABC7, the Mayor's Office was not formally notified about the bus's arrival but became aware of it on Friday.

In response, they mobilized various city departments, the county, nonprofit organizations, and faith partners to execute a plan that had been established earlier this year.

A spokesperson for Mayor Karen Bass issued a statement emphasizing the city's commitment to treating everyone with respect and dignity.

Members of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) were present at St. Anthony's Croatian Catholic Church on Grand Avenue to provide assistance to the immigrants.

They offered water, food, clothing, medical check-ups, and access to legal immigration assistance.

Governor Greg Abbott of Texas had previously announced in June that the first group of undocumented immigrants had been transported to Los Angeles as part of his comprehensive plan to alleviate the immigration burden faced by small border towns in Texas.

He criticized President Biden for failing to secure the border, which has resulted in these towns being overwhelmed by the influx of migrants.

Governor Abbott highlighted that Los Angeles, being a sanctuary city, is a popular destination for migrants, especially now that its sanctuary status has been confirmed by city leaders.

Until President Biden takes action to secure the border, Texas will continue to transport migrants to cities that have openly declared their sanctuary status.

While the Biden administration ignores the border crisis, Governor Abbott shared the steps Texas is taking to address the issue.

However, L.A. Councilman Kevin de León expressed concern and called for intervention from federal and state leaders to prevent border states from moving undocumented immigrants around the country. He argued that this practice amounts to human trafficking and kidnapping.

In response to the ongoing situation, the Los Angeles City Council recently passed a motion unanimously, directing the city to draft a "Sanctuary City" ordinance.

Once passed, this ordinance would prohibit the use of any city resources, property, or personnel for federal immigration enforcement.
