Chicago has become known for coddling criminals in the Windy City, but now the town may be over their heads.

This past week gave those paying attention a glimpse into what going easy on crime can do to a city. Teenagers terrorized residents, and there was no one to help them.

The Gateway Pundit reports, “WGN TV reported that around 9 PM Monday, the teens poured off the Chicago “L” train at the Belmont Red Line stop and completely shut down the roadway for several hours. Residents [were] left in complete terror.”

One resident that spoke with news sources chose to remain anonymous. They said that teenagers were jumping on cars, breaking things, and they used her vehicle for a bar. When she called the cops, they told her they could not do anything. So many calls were coming in that authorities were overwhelmed, and couldn’t stop the teenage takeover.

Another resident also spoke out. She said she heard gunshots amid the mayhem. She said she’s lived in the Lakeview area for a few years and pointed out how scary it is to watch things change for the worse.

Business owners in the area were also scared. Many closed down shops and businesses as soon as the chaos started. One business owner reported staying all night to ensure nothing happened to their business.

Eventually, authorities tried to intervene. The Gateway Pundit says, “Police finally arrived to break up the scene and arrested two individuals. Police spokeswoman Kellie Bartoli said a 15-year-old girl [was] charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of resisting or obstructing a peace officer.”

While the chaos happened, some managed to remain safe inside their home. However, residents of the neighborhood woke up to property damage, dented cars, shoe prints on the roofs of their vehicles, and broken windshields.
