President Biden vehemently denied involvement in his son Hunter Biden's business dealings in China during a press conference on Wednesday.

The denial came in response to a reporter's question about recent reports suggesting that the President had been present while Hunter negotiated with another party.

The reporter, Steven Nelson from the New York Post, asked President Biden, "How involved were you in your son's Chinese shakedown text messages? Were you sitting there? Were you involved?"

President Biden responded with a firm denial, stating, "No, I wasn't, and I – no!"

The denial pertains to a text message from Hunter to Harvest Fund Management CEO Henry Zhao, in which Hunter claimed to be with his father and pressured Zhao to fulfill a commitment. According to the documents, Hunter wrote in a WhatsApp message to Zhao, "I am sitting here with my father, and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight."

Hunter further added, "And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction."

The denial comes after whistleblower testimony about the investigation into Hunter's business dealings came to light. This testimony emerged almost a year after reports surfaced about an alleged voicemail from President Biden to Hunter discussing his son's international business activities. In the voicemail from 2018, President Biden is heard saying, "Hey pal, it's Dad. It's 8:15 on Wednesday night. If you have a chance, give me a call. Nothing urgent—I just wanted to talk with you. I thought the article released online, it's going to be printed tomorrow in the Times, was good. I think you're clear."

Earlier this month, the Justice Department announced that Hunter would plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of failing to pay federal income tax. This plea deal is expected to keep him out of prison. Additionally, Hunter has agreed to enter into a pretrial diversion agreement for a separate charge of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
