White House principal deputy press secretary Olivia Dalton faced skepticism and ridicule on social media after asserting that President Biden's economic policies are "incredibly popular" and that Americans are starting to "feel the impact" of his agenda.

During a White House press briefing, Dalton discussed Biden's upcoming speech, where he is expected to promote the value of "Bidenomics" as part of his re-election campaign. However, reporters pointed out that the President has consistently received low approval ratings regarding the economy and questioned how his speech would influence public opinion.

Dalton defended Biden's economic policies, stating, "Well, what I would say is that the president's economic policies are incredibly popular. When you ask people what they think about investing in our roads, bridges, and airports, what you ask people about educating and empowering workers, when you ask people about how they feel about reshoring manufacturing jobs and investing in America, those things are incredibly popular." She further claimed that when the administration engages with the public, they find support for "Bidenomics." Dalton emphasized that Biden's speech in Chicago would focus on these popular policies and highlight the President's efforts to grow the economy by strengthening the middle class.

However, Twitter users were quick to challenge Dalton's assertion. Author Matt Margolis questioned, "With who?" Media commentator Mitch Roschelle criticized the idea of popularizing government spending on infrastructure projects that have yet to materialize and asked how it would benefit the middle class. Actress Pamela Hensley accused Democrats of lying with a straight face, while economist Tony Sanders highlighted negative real weekly wage growth under Biden's administration.

Dalton also faced criticism for claiming that Americans are starting to feel the impact of Biden's economic agenda. Twitchy's Doug Powers sarcastically tweeted, "No, we've been feeling it for over two years, hence a presidential rating that falls somewhere between 3rd degree burns and genital warts on the approval chart." RedState writer Bonchie commented that if an economic agenda takes 2.5 years to be felt, it is a failure. Fox News contributor Liz Peek described the impact as "meaningful and expensive."

When asked about Americans believing that former President Donald Trump performed better on the economy than Biden, Dalton pointed to the state of the economy when Biden took office. She highlighted that after four years of Trump, unemployment was over 6%, whereas it is currently at historic lows.

This is not the first time the White House has claimed that Americans feel better about their finances under President Biden. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made a similar statement on Monday. However, the skepticism and criticism expressed on social media suggest that many Americans do not share this sentiment and have concerns about the impact of Biden's economic policies.

As President Biden prepares to deliver his speech on "Bidenomics," it remains to be seen whether he can effectively address these concerns and convince the public of his economic agenda's popularity and positive impact.
