Former Trump Cabinet Member Betsy DeVos "Unsure' Of 2024 Endorsement

According to Nate Bailey, DeVos' chief of staff, she closely monitors the race but has not decided on an endorsement. Bailey also mentioned that DeVos is pleased to see all the candidates discussing the expansion of education freedom and the empowerment of parents.

DeVos was a strong advocate for school choice during her tenure as education secretary from 2017 to 2021. She believed parents should be able to use tax dollars allocated for their children to attend different schools if their local public school did not meet their needs. Additionally, DeVos supported Trump's 1776 Commission as an alternative to the 1619 Project, which she deemed historically inaccurate for its portrayal of slavery as the foundation of American history.

Despite her previous alignment with Trump, DeVos has shown interest in several other Republican candidates for the 2024 election. On May 31, she appeared alongside former Vice President Mike Pence in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for a conversation on conservative beliefs. Furthermore, DeVos and her family have financially supported Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' political campaigns. Campaign finance records indicate that DeVos contributed $5,500 to a super PAC supporting DeSantis' re-election bid in April 2022.

DeVos continues to be a prominent figure in the discussion surrounding American education. Last year, she published a best-selling book titled "Hostages No More: The Fight for Education Freedom and the Future of the American Child." In 2003, she and her husband founded All Children Matter, which supports voucher programs.
