Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who recently announced his bid for the presidency, has described a concerning situation in San Francisco during his visit to the city.

He attributed the problems to left-wing policies, stating that "we saw people defecating on the street" and observed individuals using heroin and crack cocaine. He also noted the presence of "riff-raff" and boarded-up businesses.

In response to DeSantis' comments, San Francisco Mayor London Breed expressed her disappointment, stating that the governor was "talking bad about what's wrong and not necessarily talking about solutions to fix it." When asked if DeSantis' observations were untrue, Breed replied that she could not speak to his experience, but cautioned against elevating snapshots of the city's issues.

DeSantis, who was recently re-elected as Florida's governor, is among the Republican candidates vying for the presidency. However, former President Donald Trump is currently leading the pack, with DeSantis in a distant second place. The first GOP presidential primary debate is scheduled to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 23, and candidates must meet certain fundraising and polling thresholds to participate. They will also be required to pledge their support for the party's eventual nominee.
