Joy Behar, co-host of "The View," has attributed the disappearance of the OceanGate Titan submarine to "human incompetence" and "stupidity."

During the show on Wednesday, Behar compared the situation to the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, saying, "There's the Titanic itself that went down because of human incompetence and stupidity. Same with this, that's the irony of it. Going to see the same thing that's happening to them. It's very sad, it's scary." Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said she would pray for the family and everyone involved, adding, "that's where I'm at."

The OceanGate Titan submarine was reported missing on Sunday, and the U.S. Coast Guard estimates that about 40 to 41 hours of oxygen remain on the submersible. Three additional vessels arrived on-scene Wednesday to assist with the search, bringing different tools to scan the ocean floor as they continued to search for the sub with five people onboard. The Coast Guard said a Canadian aircraft was picking up "underwater noises" in the vessel's search area.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin also drew parallels between the submersible and the sinking of the Titanic, saying, "We don't know so much about the depths of the ocean. This is what I find fascinating. We think about sonar. We have these things that can do whatever, but there are parts we haven't seen or explored. It's sort of horrifying."

Co-host Sunny Hostin added a note of hope, saying, "I think it's hopeful we're hearing banging every 30 minutes and four hours later banging again. That sounds to me like a code."

The situation is a reminder of the dangers of exploring the depths of the ocean, which remain largely unexplored. Griffin noted that "more people have been to outer space than to these depths of the ocean." The search for the missing submersible continues, with the hope that the crew will be found safe and sound.
