A controversial remark by Virgin Islands Del. Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat, has ignited a firestorm on social media.

During a live segment on MSNBC, she discussed former President Trump's investigation for allegedly mishandling classified documents. As she vocalized her criticism of Trump's actions, she made an alarming comment that viewers caught.

Plaskett expressed her concern about Trump's handling of sensitive information, saying on MSNBC, "Having Trump not only having the codes but now having the classified information for Americans and being able to put that out and share it in his resort with anyone and everything who comes through should be terrifying to all Americans."

Her comments dramatically turned when she stated, "He needs to be shot," before hurriedly correcting herself, saying, "stopped." The video of this exchange spread like wildfire on social media, with Twitter users interpreting the comment as a severe threat and demanding her removal from office.

A conservative communicator, Steve Guest highlighted the bias in responding to such comments, tweeting, "Imagine the outrage if a Republican said this about a Democrat." WorldStrat Corporation President Jim Hanson tweeted, "Dontcha' hate when your mouth says What you are really thinking?"

Demands for an investigation into Plaskett's comments came quickly, with one Twitter user asserting, "This is a direct threat to President Trump and someone needs to investigate. Plaskett needs to be removed immediately." The user went on to add, "#RemovePlaskett."

The video also attracted the attention of Ryan Fournier, founder of Students for Trump, who shared the video and added the caption, "lock her up!"

Contrary to Plaskett's assertion that Trump's handling of classified documents should terrify all Americans, recent polls suggest the former President's support among Republicans has increased following his indictment for alleged mishandling of classified information.

In the same interview, Plaskett pointed out that Trump will face the consequences of his actions, saying, "Of course, he's going to have his day in court." She reminded viewers that Trump was indicted by "individual Americans who live in South Florida, a red state."

Plaskett has been an outspoken critic of Trump, having served as an impeachment manager in his 2021 trial. She and her fellow managers argued that Trump was "singularly responsible" for the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Yet, despite their concerted efforts, Trump was acquitted in the second impeachment trial in February 2021.
