WATCH: Tim Scott Fires Back At Obama's Criticism Of His 2024 Run

Scott, a Black 2024 presidential contender, responded to Obama's questioning of his optimistic outlook on racial issues during a "Fox News Sunday" segment.

Scott stated, "There's no higher compliment than to be attacked by President Obama. Whenever the Democrats feel threatened, they … drag out the former president and have him make some negative comments about someone running, hoping that their numbers go down."

Obama had earlier voiced concerns about Scott's approach to racial disparity in America. He underscored that it's not sufficient for a candidate to espouse unity without acknowledging today's historical inequities. The former President presented his critique during a podcast interview with David Axelrod, his ex-White House senior adviser.

Obama remarked, "If a Republican, who may even be sincere in saying, 'I want us all to live together,' doesn't have a plan for how do we address crippling generational poverty that is a consequence of hundreds of years of racism in this society, and we need to do something about that... If somebody's not proposing, both acknowledging and proposing, elements that say, 'No, we can't just ignore all that and pretend as if everything's equal and fair. We actually have to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.' If they're not doing that, then I think people are rightly skeptical."

The South Carolina senator is facing scrutiny from Obama and other Democrats and liberal activists who have questioned his perspective on racial matters.

Scott retaliated, arguing that his life experiences contradict the "lies of the radical left." He stated, "Here is what people need to know: the truth of my life disproves the lies of the radical left."

In the face of these criticisms, Scott highlighted education as a significant point of contention.
