Former Democratic Congresswoman from Florida, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, has strongly criticized Fox News's decision to host a town hall with ex-President Donald Trump.

During a recent appearance on MSNBC, she warned that this development posed "extreme danger."

In a conversation with MSNBC host Katie Phang, Mucarsel-Powell was asked about the implications of Trump's scheduled appearance on Fox News, especially in light of the network's recent $787.5 million defamation settlement related to misinformation about the 2020 election.

Responding with concern, Mucarsel-Powell stated, "It is so extremely dangerous, Katie, that they're normalizing the former president that was impeached twice. Someone that incited an insurrection in our Capitol. It was actually a self-attempted coup of our government, so that he could remain in office."

The town hall, set to air on Fox News on June 1 at 9 pm, is due to be moderated by Sean Hannity. This development arises amidst an environment of intense political discourse, with CNN also scheduling a town hall with former Vice President Mike Pence on June 7.

Commenting on these media events, Mucarsel-Powell said, "And they're acting as if, as if it's business as usual, politics as usual. No. We are on, really, the last line of defense here for our democracy, and our freedoms. And it's extremely dangerous. It doesn't surprise me, right, I mean, I think Fox is doing it for the hits, for the power, for the money."

The former congresswoman emphasized the risks of such platforms and their potential to normalize political unrest. It has to stop."
