Elon Musk's Neuralink has announced that it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to commence its "first-in-human clinical study.".

The company aims to implant chips in people's brains to enable disabled individuals to control computers with their minds, ultimately unlocking human potential. Neuralink's mission is to "create a generalized brain interface to restore autonomy to those with unmet medical needs today and unlock human potential tomorrow."

The company believes that brain-computer interfaces have the potential to change lives for the better. "We are currently focused on giving people with quadriplegia the ability to control their computers and mobile devices with their thoughts," Neuralink notes. "In the future, we hope to restore capabilities such as vision, motor function, and speech, and eventually expand how we experience the world."
