Democratic Representative Cori Bush from Missouri is the 'Squad' member leading the pack asking for reparations due to slavery that took place over 150 years ago. Her other squad members include Democratic representatives Jamaal Bowman of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, a candidate for Senate, Barbara Lee of California, and Summer Lee, a freshman representative from Pennsylvania. According to Fox News, other activists are involved from around the U.S.
Bush suggested that the $14 trillion be paid out to Blacks, addressing the gap in wealth between Whites and Blacks.

Fast-forward to Tampa, Florida, and the Tampa City Council, which heard from a local Tampa resident on Thursday who said Blacks should receive "$3 million per person."

The unnamed man said, "All this nonsense, homelessness, and all this other garbage you all talk about. Police violence and all this stuff - don't nobody care about that."
The man continued, saying, "We care about our reparations. And we have to put White people on notice that we want our reparations. Our fore-parents and us didn't work for free and [get] underpaid and all this nonsense and the White folks get away with it." while "they talk about the great city they're building."

The man went on with his comments, saying, "No. We want our reparation. $3 million per person. $3 million per person right here in this city. That's the only [thing] Black people have to care about. All this other little nonsense... we do not care about."
Across the nation on the west coast, California has reparations, such as direct cash payments and housing aid. A San Francisco task force wants $5 per eligible Black resident.
