Senator Manchin's Super Sneaky Secret Meeting Sparks Speculation Of Possible Presidential Run

The Washington Examiner reports that Manchin met with key leaders in Iowa, a critical early stage in the Presidential primary calendar.

Axios reports that Manchin met with powerbrokers in the state on Wednesday, and this has at least some Democrats concerned about what could be going through Manchin’s head.

Manchin frequently clashes with Senator Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and President Biden. Although Manchin identifies as a Democrat, there are some votes in which he will gladly buck the party when he feels he needs to. After all, Manchin represents a heavily red state as a Democrat.

So far, Manchin has refused to say if he will run for President in 2024 or seek re-election to the Senate.

A spokesperson with the Washington Examiner stated, “Manchin continues to consider the best way he can serve his state and country. But make no mistake. He will win whatever race he enters.”

This move left the door open that Manchin might decide to run for President instead of running for his Senate seat in West Virginia yet again.

Iowa will no longer be the first state on the primary calendar for Democrats but will remain a heavily critical State in the cycle. It is still an early stage in the Primary calendar and is considered a swing state at least marginally (although it is trending Republican).

Manchin spoke with business leaders from the Greater Des Moines Partnership and touted his brand of being in the dead center of politics. He stated that this makes it easier for him to help solve some of the significant challenges that face this country.

Axios reported that the Senator from West Virginia said: “When people say, ‘What’s your politics?’ I say I’m fiscally responsible and socially compassionate, which I think most Americans are.”

Manchin would not answer questions about his potential to run for President and turned down those questions repeatedly.

Manchin tweeted, “Neither the Bipartisan Infra. Law nor the IRA gave the @EPA new authority to regulate power plant emission standards,” and “However, I fear [that this] Administration’s commitment to their extreme ideology overshadows their responsibility to ensure long-lasting energy & economic security.”

Many people have started to see the possibility that Manchin could run for President after Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV) entered the race for the Senate seat in West Virginia in 2024. The speculation remains firm about that.
