The Washington Examiner reports 85,000 migrant children have vanished in the wind, and Republicans are demanding answers from Biden’s administration.

Rep. Juan Ciscomani, a first-term Republican, is leading the charge with 75 lawmakers demanding that all information be made transparent by the administration about the 85,000 migrant children released into the U.S. since 2021.

On Wednesday, Rep. Ciscomni of Arizona accused Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra of discharging children who had entered the U.S. unaccompanied, knowingly and recklessly to adults scattered across the U.S. No one took action to find the children, and that no one was in contact with.

Ciscomani told the Washington Examiner, “Recent reports have shined a light on the neglect and abuse happening to unaccompanied children - all while HHS and DHS knowingly turned a blind eye.”

In the statement, reports referenced by the New York Times concluded that smugglers extorted children. The extortion was to pay off the thousands of dollars owed to smugglers, and they used the children to do forced labor, which included sex trafficking. Other children are being kept in this country against their will and are slaves of the U.S.

The intake process used by the Border Patrol is to get the children out of the custody of the Border Patrol as fast as possible and relocate with an immediate family member or with a friend of the family.

The “hurry up and move the children” process is critical to ensure enough beds are always open to accommodate even more children crossing the border and being placed in custody by the Border Patrol. The ideal timeframe for the in-custody-out-custody process is 48 hours.

Members of Congress wrote in a letter:

“We are particularly heartbroken to read reports of children contacting HHS after their release to their sponsors in hopes of the agency intervening, with no follow-up.” “The policies of this administration are enriching the cartels and transnational criminal organizations, who are profiting from the pain, abuse, and exploitation of these children as they smuggle them into the country.”

Lawmakers, including House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), have demanded additional information. The lawmakers want to know the number of children released to adults other than their legal parents, the process used by the federal government to determine if an adult has more than one child, how sponsors are determined to be acceptable, and what the process is to do follow-up checks on each child after being placed.
