Kyle Rittenhouse announced on Friday that he is filing a countersuit against Gaige Grosskreutz.

Grosskreutz is the man who was injured by Rittenhouse in 2020 during the Kenosha riots, according to the Post Millennial. Grosskreutz announced in February that he was suing Rittenhouse for emotional distress.

Rittenhouse announced on Twitter: “Today I have filed a counter lawsuit against Mr. Grosskreutz-for assault and emotional distress we look forward to holding him accountable in court” and included a link to his GiveSendGo page.

The suit against Rittenhouse has claims of emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, humiliation, and other pain and suffering and is seeking monetary and punitive damages.

Rittenhouse spoke with Fox News and said: “I guess it came as a shock to why he’s filing a lawsuit because he admitted that he pointed a gun in my face and that he chased me down.” Rittenhouse also clarified that he was “ready to prove his innocence.”

On November 19, 2021, Rittenhouse was found not guilty of all charges related to the 2020 incident in which he used an AR-15 rifle during a Black Lives Matter riot. The charges he faced at that time included first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, first-degree homicide in the death of Anthony Huber, 26, first-degree attempted homicide for injuring Grosskreutz, and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety according to the Post Millennial.

Rittenhouse claims that he went to Kenosha to protect businesses in the area and only used the AR-15 to defend himself.

Grosskreutz testified during the trial that he pointed a gun at Rittenhouse during the riots and that Rittenhouse then shot him in the arm. However, Grosskreutz later claimed his arms were up as he approached Rittenhouse.

The Post Millennial reports that the Grosskreutz lawsuit moves forward just two weeks after a judge in Wisconsin ruled that a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Anthony Huber’s father could move forward against Rittenhouse. The lawsuit filed by Huber’s father also aims at several police officers and others, according to the Post Millennial.
