Eyebrows Raising Over President Biden's "Guests" On Northern Island Trip

Joe Biden’s sister, Valerie Biden Owens, also joined in on the trip.

Fox News reports that the President landed in Northern Ireland late Thursday night, and a U.S. envoy by Joseph Patrick Kennedy III, a grandnephew of the late President John F. Kennedy, joined him. The President plans to be in the area for four days to “keep the peace.”

Before taking off from Maryland, the President refused to elaborate on which family members would join him. Hunter Biden has been under investigation for his business dealings, which still hasn’t been resolved. All that the President would say about who was joining him by saying: “Just two of my family members who haven’t been there before.”

The Daily Mail reported that Biden was asked about the purpose of the trip on Thursday, and he said: “Make sure the Irish accords and the Windsor agreement stay in place,” and “Keep the peace. That’s the main thing, and it looks like we’re going to.”

The Mail continued by saying that the Grand Central Hotel was lined with armored vehicles for protection and that the street had been closed to outside traffic in anticipation of the President’s arrival.

During Biden’s trip to Northern Ireland, the President will reportedly meet with United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. The agreement was signed in 1998 and officially ended “The Troubles,” which involved a conflict between Protestant Unionists loyal to the Crown and Catholic Republicans supporting a unified Ireland.

Fox News reports that there have been security concerns before the President’s arrival due to gasoline bombs that were tossed at law enforcement in Derry/Londonderry by protestors. This area was known as a hotspot for violence during the Troubles, and it continues to remain an area that can have some flare-ups of violence from time to time.

Outside of the diplomatic relations that Biden will be working on while in the area, he also plans to meet with distant relatives in the country. The President also plans to make a point about how strong his Irish heritage is to who he is as a person and how it has shaped his way of thinking about the world at large as well.
