The two countries have a long and lasting allyship, but it seems that France may be ready to jump ship to land in the arms of China.
Fox News reports that Cruz wrote the word “stunning” while sharing news about what French President Emmanuel Macron had said about China earlier in the day. In particular, Macron called on his country and the rest of Europe to ignore the lead of the United States in wanting to defend Taiwan if China invades them.
Cruz tweeted:
“Even the left-wing leaders of Europe — whom Biden has assiduously courted (and obsequiously [a---]kissed)—are openly screwing the U.S.” The Republican senator added, “Serious [Question]: could Biden possibly have screwed up foreign policy more?”

Cruz spoke about this after Macron spent three days in China and almost immediately began to talk in the ways that Chinese leadership does. In other words, it seems that Macron is now speaking the language of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and he doesn’t seem to mind that this flies in the face of what France, the United States, and much of Europe have believed in for many years.

Fox News reports that Macron said the following while in China:
“The question we need to answer, as Europeans, is the following: is it in our interest to accelerate (a crisis) [on] Taiwan? No.” He continued, saying, “The worst thing would be to think that we Europeans must become followers on this topic and take our cue from the U.S. agenda and a Chinese overreaction.”

Macron expressed fears that France and its neighbors might get drawn into a drama that is not theirs. Macron said in an interview, “We, Europeans, must wake up. Our priority is not others’ agendas in all regions of the world,”
The French President’s remarks received wide criticism.

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida asked in a video if the videos expressed by Macron represent the sentiments of all of Europe. He feels that this needs some clarification and that it is something that people would want to know more about.
Rubio said:
“If Macron speaks for all of Europe, and their position now is they’re not going to pick sides between the U.S. and China over Taiwan, maybe [then] we should not be taking sides either.”
