Dr. Erica Anderson, a trans-identified male clinical psychologist, expressed concerns about social transitions being a powerful psychotherapeutic intervention that may increase the persistence of gender incongruence.
Dr. Hilary Cass, former President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, shared similar concerns regarding the neutrality of social transition and emphasized the need for careful psychological assessments to take place beforehand.

Pelosi also raised concerns regarding the numerous anti-LGBTQ bills brought before state legislatures in the past year, with nearly 300 pieces of legislation being considered. Pelosi cited Texas as an example, where experimental sex changes for children are considered child abuse.
Pelosi then shared her pride in her transgender "niece," Skylar, who transitioned with "pride, dignity, and courage."
While stressing the importance of displaying love for transgender children, Pelosi also underlined the need for respect and societal change. She stated that California is not merely tolerant of the LGBTQ+ community, it respects and takes pride in them. Pelosi closed the event by emphasizing again the importance of love and respect for trans children, as well as the need for societal change.
